Ronald McDonald Care Mobile®

In a world experiencing unprecedented advances in medicine, thousands of children in the Chicago area still do not have access to proper medical care. The lack of access to good preventative healthcare can have a major impact on the physical, social and economic health of the Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana area. However, RMHC-CNI, working in a collaborative partnership with other care givers, is helping to address this critical need.

Our Ronald McDonald Care Mobile is a state-of-the-art, custom designed vehicle that delivers cost effective care directly to underserved children in their own neighborhood. The vehicle is 40 feet long, 8 feet wide and incorporates two patient exam rooms, a reception area and a medical records area. 

From October 2004 through April of 2007, our Ronald McDonald Care Mobile served as a state-of-the-art dental clinic. The program's focus was to provide initial screening, diagnosis, primary care treatment, and referral and follow up for serious dental needs.The specially-equipped unit was operated and staffed by the Walter G. Zoller Memorial Dental Clinic in partnership with the University of Chicago and La Rabida Children’s Hospital.

We are proud to have served the dental needs of over 2,500 children in the Chicago area who would have otherwise gone untreated.

Currently, our Ronald McDonald Care Mobile is being reconditioned and refitted to be able to provide primary medical care to the needy children of our community. Working with a local healthcare partner, we hope to reach thousands of needy area children every year.

Our goal is to begin serving patients again by November 1st of this year, taking one more step toward our goal of improving the health and well-being of the children in our communities.
