Cook County Farm Bureau
We are extremely grateful to the men and women of the Cook County Farm Bureau for their many years of generosity to RMHC-CNI. Since 2000, the bureau, which happens to be the largest in the country, has celebrated "Food Checkout Day" and this year, they will once again mark the day by raising food and funds for our charity.
Food Checkout Day is the day each year that the average American family has earned enough disposable income to buy food for their family for the year. And what better way to celebrate the affordability of food for families in our country, than by making it available to families staying in a home away from home at one of our Ronald McDonald Houses?
On February 5, 2007, CCFB members will once again join us for a celebration at RMH near Loyola University Medical Center for a food delivery like no other! Dozens will gather to welcome a farm tractor (driven by a member and Ronald McDonald!) as it pulls into the RMH parking lot bearing literally tons of food, poptabs and donated dollars. In 2006, CCFB presented a check for $5,000, as well as 2 tons of goods!
To add to their effort, this year CCFB has partnered with Jewel Osco's "Shop and Share" program for a special promotion January 15-17. On those days, shoppers who turn in a "Shop and Share" coupon will have a portion of their bill donated to CCFB's drive for RMHC-CNI. (Click here to download the coupon.)
Special thanks to their staff team, lead by Manager Bob Rohrer, as well as the Board of Directors and members for years of caring - both for the food we eat in the U.S. every day, as well as for the children and families we serve at RMHC-CNI.
